I have been a 1911 guy since I started shooting in the 1970''s. I had a number of reasons for purchasing the Colt Defender, since I am in Law Enforcement and carry a Gov''t model as my primary duty weapon. This will serve as a back-up and off-duty weapon, so the one change I will make to the factory configuration is to add night signts. This gun comes with virtually all of the modifications I made to my Series 80 Model 1991 (except the signts), so having an "identical" weapon was easy to achieve. It carries a little more "pop" due to the shorter barrel, but it has quickly become my favorite "small" gun after owning and carrying the Glock 27 and Sig Sauer P230. You simply cannot beat a 1911-style .45, and Colt knows how to make a gun.

I''ve always been a fan of Colt firearms and the Colt 1911 Defender is no exception. I''ve owned this pistol for about 5 years now and have had no problems. The only reason I was ever off target is due to my poor aiming. Would definitely recommend this pistol to anyone.

Colt Defender Pistol Bought this from the gun source. Received it quickly and in good condition. Took it to the range that afternoon and put 100 rounds through it with no problems. Can''t wait to take it out again.

I hope I never have to use a gun to defend myself, but if the time ever comes, I feel confident in the performance of the Colt 1911 Defender pistol. I''ve been taking it to the range and cleaning it on a regular basis and have never had a problem. Easy to handle and operate. 5 stars.

The everyday carry piece on my hip. Excellence and quality of Colt with the stopping power of .45 acp and the smallish size of this .45 make it my 1st choice for everyday carry. Mechanically smooth and fires everytime I''ve pulled the trigger. The high standards of Colt manufacturing, the addition of a grip safety, and the consistent performance of Colt 1911 makes this a great choice for the price. Stopping power and Colt reliability in a small 3 barreled 1911. 5/5 Stars.
