This mount makes the 1911 slightly less convenient to use in that the slide lockback is less reliable because of the aftermarket latch. The tension on the lock lever screw has to be carefully adjusted to give reliable function. That being said, this clever mount gives you a rail option without expensive holes drilled in your pistol. One other minor drawback is the need to remove the mount to strip the pistol. The two "drawbacks" mentioned are minor compared to the benefits; it is a low-cost and reversible add-on that solves a problem. I''m only giving it four stars for the "drawbacks" but when I look through a red dot on my 1911 I''m thinking it''s well worth it. Go for it.
